Chelsea Flower Show Tour 2014
May 20th - 28th
|May 24th Visits to
Pashley Manor Gardens (sculpture exhibit on while we were there) What an
incredible visit this was and our guide was so knowledgeable. Was it the
manor house that did us in? I think so. This was pure sensory overload to
see a manor house like this - it did remind me of Great Dixter - and was
built about the same time I think. The lawns and gardens were a delight to
wander through and with the exhibit on I think made more glorious. I
especially liked the lady on the lawn, but then I liked a lot of the works.
They were hugely expensive works on display. We all had a perpetual smile on
our faces while visiting...and I know why.
Merriments Gardens including Guided Tour with the head Gardener - a very
different place to visit and so full of plant material and ideas you walked
and walked and then walked some more because coming and going gave you
different vistas and viewpoints. They have a great resto and giftshop and of
course many plants for sale. Our lunch here was fantastic!
These evening I went out with a couple of my guests to St. Martin in the
Fields for a bit of Mozart. I love this place. We arrived in time to have
dinner before the concert and it was just magical...and I still cannot get
over just how pretty this building is. Thank goodness it has been taken over
and loved again so the beauty of it can continue to shine.
